In the course of my life, I have been fortunate to meet some of the most inspirational and admirable people in the world. I've spoken with Jimmy Carter; been personally thanked by Ginetta Sagan, a co-founder of Amnesty International; and spent four days in Las Vegas with the volunteers who made the first YearlyKos Convention an undisputed success.

These volunteers may not have been world leaders or human rights pioneers, but they have influenced me as much as — if not more than — those in high positions. The YKC 06 volunteers represent the best of the people-powered politics movement. One volunteer with extensive experience in a technical field offered his professional skills but said, "If you need me to sit at a table and hand out balloons, I'll do it." And he did. Another couple who referred to YKC 06 as their Woodstock volunteered by claiming they "had no particular skills except a willingness to pitch in."

Our volunteers made YearlyKos Convention 2006 a success because they literally kept the doors open. They are some of the most talented people I've been privileged to work with.

YearlyKos Convention 2007 promises to be even bigger and better, but we need volunteers to pull it off. Many have already committed, but there's more room at the table. Follow the link to the volunteer page, fill out the questionnaire, and hit send. It's that simple.
